Another post of lovely school, painful school.
So, recently I have finished a little book called 'The Outsiders' by S.E Hinton, and honestly it is a good book. My class has been asked to compare ourselves to one of the characters in it. But, not like 'Oh, Cherry and I are the same gender!' or 'I'm funny, I'm like Two-Bit!'. We have to compare ourselves from their character traits, more detailed ones. And, what they went through, if it relates to us in some way. Let's simply get started then.
In the book The Outsiders, there are many different and unique characters, and I could almost relate to all of them. There is one character though that I relate to the most, Sodapop. In most of the book, Sodapop tries to stay calm, and has hopes with dreams. He is in the middle of it all mostly, between Ponyboy's and Darry's fights.
I mostly relate to this character because of the fact I can relate to what he is going through. Everyone wants them to pick a side, and somethings really just don't go his way at all. People look at him throughout the book to be someone who is almost like a star.
I have to choice, or I have to pick sides with family and friends. When people look at me, they might as well think I'm just the usual girl with a smile.
Another way that I relate to him is because of his breakdown at the end of the book. Having feeling bottled up inside, because you know that at the wrong time and wrong place, they will let out a scream. And, everyone will never treat you the same. But, if you wait for until the right moment, you will change the minds of the people that caused this pain.
Its just the way I think, I hope you guys try to read The Outsiders, and watch the movie. I finished the book, and am currently watching the movie for class. Bye guys.
I like how you compared yourself to Sodapop with the ideas your brought about how you and Soda are alike really stood out to me. I never thought that I am like Soda till I read this and now I know how similar I am to his actions mainly with having to choose a side and keeping everything bottled up till I just explode! I’m glad that you like the book and hope you enjoy the movie!
